Iloilo City fire safety gets boost with new fire truck

Iloilo to receive Korean-donated ladder truck (14-storey reach)

The Iloilo City Government bolsters its commitment to public safety by acquiring a new fire truck which will be stationed at one of the Iloilo City Action and Resilience (ICARE) centers.

Located strategically, ICARE Centers house various frontline services including the police, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Public Safety and Transportation Management Office, and fire personnel. This brings emergency response closer to the community.

While initially requesting an additional fire truck from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Mayor Jerry P. Treñas took the initiative to procure one due to the agency’s current focus on areas lacking firetrucks altogether.

“Thus, I instructed to procure a fire truck because we have ICARE centers and some of them do not have a fire truck yet,” the city mayor explained.

Iloilo City continues to prioritize acquiring necessary equipment for the Bureau of Fire Protection while strengthening fire safety campaigns for residents.

This move complements the city’s efforts in fire prevention, especially during March’s Fire Prevention Month. Additionally, Iloilo City is expecting a donation of a ladder truck from Korea, capable of reaching 14-storey buildings.

The city mayor appealed to the public to be alert and always ensure the safety of their homes and establishments against possible fire. (Iloilo City PIO)
